Chiara Donn : Photographer / Artist / Journalist
Born in Turin (Italy) ; lived, in London, Dublin, New York, Brussels, Milan and Paris.
Graduated in Visual Arts, (Drawing, Etching, Sculpture and Art History) at La Cambre, Brussels -(Ecole Nationale Supérieure d’Architecture et des Arts Visuels) founded in 1928 by Henry Van de Velde – of the Belgian Bauhaus.
A strong inclination for photography I first began my experience in this field at age 16-thanks to the long desired Nikormat my father brought back for me from a business trip in Japan.
Mainly interested in encounters with people; in the natural environment that surrounds us; in capturing the fleeting moment or a particular light or atmosphere.
I almost always have my camera with with me so as to record all that surprises me, inspires me, and instantly catch´s my eye.
My work consists in a series of portraits, landscapes, still life, travel photography and photoreportage.
I collaborated for many years as a journalist and photographer particularly in the field of art and culture- for the International press ; Donna Piu, Flair,(Arnoldo Mondadori), Class Editori, Amica, Elle Italie, l’Europeo, L‘Espresso (Rizzoli), Arte (Giorgio Mondadori), In Style Magazine (Meredith Corporation), Vogue Italia, L’Uomo Vogue, Casa Vogue (Condé Nast), Bloom, Colours, (Lidewij Edelkoort /Trend Union publications)-, Cote Sud, Cote Ouest (Coté Maison)
Over the years I have been following contemporary artists of different horizons and have created a series of portraits and interviews – Most of which are part of my archives and of an editorial project dedicated to them, to their work and research, and to their much appreciated talent.
